It is a part of the program, application, operating system responsible for communication with the user. The most common form of communication in the IT industry is the Graphical User Interface (GUI). It is based on the WIMP paradigm (Windows, Icons, Menus, Pointing device). It standardizes the appearance of the application and presents it in the form of a recognizable and predictable form.

While designing the interface, apart from the graphic layer (icons, menus, text fields, lists), one should remember to design the user’s movement paths, information architecture and interaction processes. That is why the UI I UX (user experience) connection is now so important in the process of designing web pages.

Jest to część programu, aplikacji, systemu operacyjnego odpowiedzialna za komunikację z użytkownikiem. Najczęściej spotykaną jej formą w branży IT jest graficzny interfejs – GUI (ang. Graphical User Interface). Jest on oparty o paradygmat WIMP (Windows, Icons, Menus, Pointing device). Standaryzujący wygląd aplikacji i przedstawiający ją w postaci rozpoznawalnej i przewidywalnej formie.

Podczas projektowania interfejsu oprócz warstwy graficznej (ikon, menu, pól tekstowych, list) należy pamiętać o zaprojektowaniu ścieżek poruszania się użytkownika, architektury informacji, procesów interakcji.
